Greetings from your Commander:
For those of
us who attended the TAFB Air Show aboard M/V Sea Duction
with owners Staci and Todd Doucett, is was a fun day
with the weather fully cooperating. We were anchored
right beneath the flight paths in clear view of all
the activities.
Our dinner meeting for the
month of May, held at Triple J Steakhouse, with
20+ members attending, turned into a strictly social
affair so that
20+ those of you who did not attend, missed out on
good eats and good company.
Since summer is my busiest
time of year and it probably is for most of you, comments
from the bridge may be brief in the coming months;
however, I would like to remind everyone of the upcoming,
dare I say the words--Hurricane Season. Since we are
being reminded to prepare ourselves personally for
possible hurricanes, should we not also make plans
now for a safe place to put our boats? For those who
have no haul out agreement with a boat yard, you need
to start searching for a "hidey hole" now
so that when the time comes to use it, it will be
ready. Purchase now: extra lines, chaffing gear, storm
anchors, and other related items.
We will have been out on the
Stern Wheeler Betsy Ann by the time this is published
and hope to see all of you there. I took the liberty
of inviting the Panama Coastal Cruisers Club and the
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to join us for the lunch
cruise. The more the merrier. Hope you enjoyed the
shrimp (fresh caught the day before).
It occurred to me while I was
writing this, that as of May 27th I have been boating
for 50 years. I remember the date well. On May 27,
1956 my dad first allowed me to take the wheel. Fifty
years of great boating!!! How about that!!
Wishing you fair tides and
a following wind.
Captain "Ric" Corley, P

Administration Department News
|
| Since the past two monthly meetings have
been Squabbles, this month we'll have a "regular"
business meeting to catch up on what we've been doing
and have planned. We'll meet at our regular room at
the Healthplex at 1900 on Thursday, June 8.
For this month's rendezvous, we had initially thought
about having a Poker Run. However, we probably don't
have enough participating boats to make this worthwhile.
Instead, we'll have a raft-up like we did in April.
Let's plan for Shell Point again. This is a convenient
location and well away from lots of boat traffic and
boat wakes. If you don't have a boat, call a friend
and hitch a ride. Hope to see you there!
