Commander's Message - Commander "Ric" Corley

G
reetings from your Commander:

Our July 4th raft up off Redfish Point to watch the Panama City Fire Works Celebration was a terrific success with an attendance of approximately 30+ people between 1 sail boat and 3 power boats. There were all kinds of good eats, and the Doucett's managed to bring us fresh homemade strawberry ice cream: no small feat given the hot weather!

It appears July was "the month" for Power Squadron fun. We held our business meeting 13 July at Black Angus with more eating and socializing then business taking place; however, we did get a chance to introduce some new members with new and old members being sworn and re-sworn in by myself.

Meanwhile, another fun treat for us was the rendezvous 22 July at the Cirks' house at the end of Shoreline Dr. There was lots of food and a desert to share.

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting on the 2nd Thursday of the month.

Wishing you fair tides and a following wind.

Captain "Ric" Corley, P

The August meeting will be another squabble. We'll meet at Bay Point's Club 19 at 1830 on Thursday, August 10. Information about the dinner selections and costs is are attached in an e-mail you will receive from Staci in a downloadable PDF file. Please let Anji or Rick Smitherman, 236-2117, know if you will be attending and what you want to eat.

The August rendezvous will be the canoe trip on the Econfina. We will be meeting at the Canoe Livery at 9:15 AM for a departure of 10:00. The trip will take between 3-5 hours (depending on how much of a hurry we are in).
The Panama City Coastal Cruisers will also be there, so we'll have a big group. Ric Corley has reserved a number of canoes for our group. If you have your own canoe or kayak, you can use that. If you plan to come, give Ric a call.
